jg Library

Our library staff has one mission: to spark a love of literature that will last a lifetime. The library is open for book checkout throughout the day.  There is rarely a time you will not visit the library and see students checking out books, reading quietly, researching, or working in groups guided by a classroom teacher and/or our librarian.  Our librarian plans cooperatively with teachers and our IB coordinator to integrate our library materials and Academic Standards into each Unity of Inquiry. It is our goal that the students of Julia Green gain a love of quality literature. We currently have over 13,000 volumes. Funding is provided by the school system, our PTO, and various fundraisers, including an annual book fair.

Shannon Meadows
Librarian/IB Coordinator

Shannon Meadows was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but raised in east Tennessee before moving to Nashville to pursue her teaching career. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Pedagogy from Tennessee Technological University. Immediately following graduation, she accepted a position as a classroom teacher in MNPS. Shortly after, Shannon received her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Middle Tennessee State University with an emphasis in Library Science. From 2004 to 2011, Shannon was the librarian at Julia Green where she collaborated with the design team through the remodel of our library; in addition, she served on the initial International Baccalaureate certification team. Shannon is thrilled to be back home at Julia Green serving our community. When not at JG, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, her dogs, and traveling to the beach.
