Hornet Hustle - 2021
HORNET HUSTLE 2021
FRIDAY, APRIL 23
JULIA GREEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Spring is upon us, and we are excited to begin preparing for our 7th Annual Hornet Hustle!
Between Monday, March 22nd and Friday, April 23rd, your child will work toward the big, exciting goal of running or walking 25 miles at school and at home. Then on Friday, April 23rd, during school hours, students will gather on campus by grade to complete the final marathon mile in a "race" around our beautiful, new track!
Update: Registration has now closed for the Hornet Hustle
All proceeds go directly to the Julia Green P.E. department to assist with equipment needs! Your registration fee includes a Hornet Hustle t-shirt, a necklace full of colorful foot charms that your child will earn by completing miles, and a medal.
Running logs will come home March 22nd, after Spring Break, and your child can begin recording miles. Running logs must be returned to school each day in the student folder in order to earn the foot charms. Students are on their honor to record each mile with integrity.
You can download the running log here. For virtual students, Mr. Norris will also post the running log in Schoology.
In an effort to comply with district guidelines, we are excited to announce that virtual students can participate in this year’s event! The virtual students will have their own time to run (8:30 a.m. – 8:55 a.m.) around the JG track to complete their final 2 laps (1/2 mile) of the Hornet Hustle. Due to time constraints, students will not be running the full mile. Those students will need to remain masked and socially distanced from other students and staff members. Parents/guardians will need to wait in their car. After running, the students will promptly need to leave campus. Leading up to event day, virtual students can still log mileage on the mileage sheet to earn feet. Once we know their total mileage, we will arrange a time to distribute them.
Hornet Hustle is THE primary fundraiser for the Physical Education department at Julia Green. Please help your child find ‘sponsors’ for their running! This can be family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc. It may be a grandmother who says, “I’ll donate $1 for every mile you run!” We are encouraging donations to be made online this year, but will also accept cash or checks, dropped off at the main office in a labeled bag.
