Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to Julia Green Elementary School. We are a Metro/Davidson County Public School and part of the Hillsboro Cluster. For the 2007-2008 school year, the enrollment is approximately 435 students with a 20:1 student/teacher ratio. Julia Green is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS).
At Julia Green, education is our first priority. Over seventy percent of our faculty has more than ten years teaching experience. Our grade level teachers and area specialists (art, music and science) use the academic standards set by the Metropolitan Nashville Public School District. Through the dedicated work of our teachers, our school is consistently ranked among the very top schools in both Metro and State TCAP test performance. Julia Green also participates in the ENCORE program at Roberson Academy for academically gifted children.
Another very unique and impressive aspect of Julia Green is the strength of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our PTO has an annual budget of approximately $130,000. The annual budget primarily generates money through a few select fund-raisers such as Invest In Your Child, Read-a-Thon, Fall Carnival and the Silent Auction. The PTO budget funds many educational and support programs at Julia Green. The teachers are also given an annual stipend to use in their classrooms. The PTO also recently bought and installed new playground equipment for our school.
Last, but certainly not least, is the diversity and character that Julia Green strives to develop in each individual child. Each school day begins with the Character Counts Pledge, led by our principal, Eileen Wills. Each grading period, each teacher chooses 2 students from their class for the Citizenship Awards. These awards reward responsibility, respectfulness, trustworthiness, caring and fairness.
The attributes of faculty experience, parental involvement and support, along with the development of the well-rounded student, are what sets Julia Green apart from other schools.
